Triway Cross Country traveled into Wooster on Saturday for the Wooster Invitational to compete against top flight Division 1 competition and many local rivals.
The Girls team continued their successful season with a 3rd place finish in the Division 2/3 race, narrowly losing to Smithville for the second consecutive week. Once again, Shari Ritchey led the girl harriers in a new personal best of 21:38 over the 5k distance, followed by Miriam Styer (22:03), Rylee Oberly (22:48), Jordan Oberly (23:31), and Emily Case (24:02). Nicole Gayheart competed in her first race of the season, running 24:13 with freshman, Hailey Steiner (25:48), rounding out the Titans top 7. Also competing for the Titans were Miranda Croskey (26:30), Lydia Styer (29:03) and Rebecca Gasser (30:15). The girls will be out of action until September 22nd at the Sandy Valley Invitational.
The Triway Boys also had a positive showing at Wooster finishing 4th in the Division 2/3 race beating West Holmes, Waynedale, Northwestern, Chippewa and Manchester. Leading the way in his first race of the season was senior, Ian Speicher, with a 7th place 17:29, followed by freshman, Aaron Saari (18:11), Isaiah Styer (18:42), senior Tony Adams in his season debut in 19:56, Tegan Patterson (20:22). Rounding out the Titans top 7 were Jared Durieux (20:49), Kodan Hamilton (20:52). Also competing for the Titans were Vansh Khatri (22:08), Corbin Titler (22:09) and Seth Meade (24:53). Freshman, Jacob Gasser, also competed in the Open Race running 23:43. Virtually all the Titan runners achieved new personal bests. The Titan Boys also have a week off before traveling to Sandy Valley for an important mid-season test.
